The Flame Nebula is a gas cloud illuminated by the star Alnitak, in Orion's Belt. The Horsehead Nebula stands out as a dark silhouette of gas and dust, visible against the luminous background. Meanwhile, the Orion Nebula is one of the nearest "stellar nurseries"—where new stars are born—and is easily identifiable in the night sky, even with the naked eye.
