Author: Sara Santos García
Date: 2023
Location: Asociación Supernova – University of Salamanca Observatory (Spain)
Telescope: 400/1800mm Newtonian
Camera: Canon 77D DSLR
Image 1 (top left): The first image was captured in the visible spectrum, as we would see it with the naked eye.
Image 2 (bottom left): In the second image, an inverse filter was applied to better highlight the comet’s broad, visible tail.
Image 3 (right): In the third image, a Larson–Sekanina filter was applied, allowing the comet’s ejection jets to be observed — material expelled during its rotation which, as it sublimates (changes directly from solid to gas), contributes to the formation of its characteristic tail.
