It is an emission nebula located in the constellation of Cygnus, formed by the interaction between the stellar winds of the massive star WR 136 and material expelled during earlier stages of its evolution. The collision of these winds compresses and heats the surrounding gas, producing the nebula’s filamentary structure and characteristic glow.
NGC 6888 represents an advanced stage in the evolution of very massive stars, shortly before they explode as supernovae.
