NGC 1333 is a reflection nebula in the constellation of Perseus and one of the closest star-forming regions. The newly formed stars in NGC 1333 are less than one million years old. Much of their light is obscured by the dark cloud of dust from which they formed.
Using NASA’s Spitzer Space Telescope, it was possible to detect the infrared radiation from these objects, allowing astronomers to see through the veil of dust and gain a better understanding of the early stages of star formation.
